Jane Francis MA SFHEA: Multidisciplinary creative practitioner, consultant and researcher with over 35 years' experience as an educator, practitioner, and academic leader: her work sits at the intersection of fashion, fine art, and progressive pedagogy
Jane holds Undergraduate and Post Graduate Degrees in Fine Art from Melbourne University. In 2023 she was awarded an MA in Academic Practice from UAL London, focusing on progressive pedagogy within HE level curriculum design. In 2025 she was awarded a Senior Fellowship from Advanced HE UK in recognition of her impactful contributions to advancing education.
Founder of her own Fashion labels, including knitwear, print, product and jewelry collections, and most recently a nonprofit gallery space for underrepresented artists and makers: The Covert Room, Jane has worked internationally with leading voices in Fashion including: Vivienne Westwood- the seismic change maker and leading voice of activism and climate justice in Fashion, Tank publishing as part of the core creative team, YSL and Nicholas Knightly amongst many others. She serves as an educator, academic director and adviser at leading global institutions: Parsons New York, Central Saint Martins, London College of Fashion, Ima Istanbul, BHSAD Moscow, University of Westminster UK and Academy of Arts University San Francisco.
Janes academic and educational philosophy encourages student centered creative, progressive thinking, innovation, sustainable & socially aware methods in Fashion, through experimental and practical inquiry: locating the traditions and skills of practice within contemporary and future fashion landscapes.
Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Jane is currently based in Brooklyn, New York. Her work has featured and held in numerous collections and exhibitions worldwide.
